Bhishma

Arrows washed in oil sped at Bhishma from the bows of Sikhandin and Arjuna, but Bhishma would not look at them. Like winter's cold those arrows pierced him by the hundreds till there was not space on his body for another arrow to strike. And as the gods above folded their hands, Bhishma fell headlong from his chariot, so covered with arrows that he did not touch the Earth.
